Patriots Equal Best Victory Run Since Brady Era with Triumph Against Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five TDs during the current campaign
New England matched their longest winning run from the Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the New England's lead at the top of the division as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Fields scoring a short rushing score to cap the Jets' initial series
But the home team responded in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Justin Fields threw to Metchie toward the end of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the win
